Steering the ship, Paris native Géraldine Zanaska has 10 years’ experience in the music industry. Between earning her master’s degree in Music Business Management from London’s University of Westminster and launching Compass Music, Géraldine worked for an independent record label, a music venue, a live music promoter, a cultural institution, and the French music export office.

When not working with clients or cruising the canals on her narrowboat, you can often find her giving guest lectures, hosting workshops, and mentoring young professionals starting out in the music business.

Raph is a young web developer who left his native Alps to pursue a career in the City of Lights! After graduating from Grenoble’s business school, Raphaël attended Le Wagon programming school and fell into the world of informatics and web design.

From growing up with a pianist dad who rocked the hell out of Elton John’s classics to 8-hour programming sessions to the sounds of Spotify’s most curious playlists, music has always played an important part in Raph’s life. Despite leaving the mountains for the big city, he never passes up the chance to hop on a train to hit the slopes and enjoy a nice cold beer at sunset over Mont Blanc.

Favorite venue: La Belle Electrique (Grenoble, FR)

Favorite festival: Sziget (Budapest, HU)

A music lover from an early age and passionate about the role music can play in language-learning and intercultural communication, Alesa jumped at the chance to study Culture & Communications in the Music Industry in Paris and to join the French music export office as Content Manager. Now, from her new home in Chartres, she creates websites and crafts copy for clients including music festivals, artists, and tourism sites.

Our values:

We love working in the music business but we believe the industry can be better. Through Lighthouse, we aim to shine a light on important issues in the music industry and be a beacon for diversity, inclusion, respect, and sustainability.

Gender Parity & Diversity

Fair & Prompt Pay

Sustainability

Problems We See in the Global Music Industry & What We’re Doing to Address Them:

A lack of diversity and inclusion

Unfortunately, most lists of top music industry experts feature the same profiles with little representation of different backgrounds, cultures, or genders. We’ve taken the Keychange Pledge and have committed to curating a gender-balanced roster of trusted Lighthouse Experts that reflects and champions the world's diversity.

Undervaluing Expertise

We know firsthand that being asked to give your time and advice for free is a problem encountered by nearly everyone working in the music industry, from communications professionals to artists. On top of being undervalued with requests to “pick their brain,” - how many times have we all heard this? - independent workers also often find themselves in difficult positions due to long invoice payment terms or not ever being paid for their work. Lighthouse Experts are paid directly as soon as someone schedules a consulting session. And at rates they set themselves.

*Experts in countries where Stripe Connect with Express accounts are unavailable are paid within two weeks.

Time wasters are also a big problem in our industry. Lighthouse is a members-only platform, ensuring everyone here is serious, motivated, and invested. Our Experts are all verified and our Members pay a monthly subscription fee and pay upfront to book consulting sessions.

An Unnecessarily Large Environmental Impact

There’s too much wasteful travel in the music industry - hello, 24-hour trips halfway around the globe for a single meeting and one-date concerts in a foreign country. Lighthouse helps Members get the lie of the land and meet with local pros virtually so they can avoid unnecessary travel and make the most of time spent on site.
